Joint IRIS-EIS burst observationsThis page gives details on joint IRIS-EIS observations of bursts. Note that observations obtained with IHOP268 are described elsewhere. EIS slot dataI decided that the EIS slot may be the best way of detecting an upper transition region signature of UV bursts, particularly through the Mg VI 269.0 A line, which is fairly clean. I give below details of observations. 17-Feb-2017EIS: 02:45-03:40 UT, IUU_SLOT_148x400 (x45) The target was AR 12636. The IRIS slit did not capture any
bursts, but there may be a couple at the right-edge of the SJI images. 3-Mar-2017EIS: 00:19-02:10 UT, IUU_SLOT_148x400 (x100) IRIS was tracking AR 12641 for two weeks, and so the EIS study was scheduled to coincide with one of the IRIS sequences. There is an IRIS burst at pixel (279,107) in files 0 and 1 (times 00:44 and 01:12). I checked the IRIS burst location, but I didn't see anything
in He II or Mg VI. I should check the pointing more carefully, though. 4-Mar-2017EIS: 00:52-01:52, IUU_SLOT_148x400 (x50) IRIS was tracking AR 12641 for two weeks, and so the EIS study was scheduled to coincide with one of the IRIS sequences. I don't find any IRIS bursts using the iris_burst_check routine. Have not checked EIS data yet. 7-May-2017IRIS was supporting SST during 07:30 to 11:00 and I (as EIS CO) scheduled some EIS observations. The first IRIS observation occurred between 07:29 and 09:06 and 64-step rasters were taken. EIS ran the slot raster study IUU_SLOT_148X400 between 07:35 and 08:50 (65 rasters). The second IRIS observation occurred between 09:16 and 11:05
and 16-step rasters were taken. EIS ran the sit-and-stare study
Cool_loop_stare from 09:16 to10:17. Using iris_burst_check, I only found one event at 07:35, but this is in the EIS FOV. Page maintained by Dr Peter R Young. |
