Planning week 24-31 August 2024This is a standard planning week, with three OPs. Although the optical eclipse season had finished, the X-ray/EUV eclipse season continued. Just before the week began, a major flare watch was called on AR 13796. However, multiple regions were flaring at this time. AR 13796 was the default target for all OPs. The flare watch was ended on August 27. No X-flares occurred during the week. There were two HOPs this week.
Saturday 24 Aug [OP1]For OP1 I decided to run my old pry_flare_2 study. I scheduled in the daytime periods of the orbits, with 18 blocks altogether (each with about 40 repeats). Each block began with a slot context raster. The blocks on 24 Aug began at 11:57, 13:37, 15:16, 21:49 and 23:27 UT. HOP 420 was supported with HPW021VEL120x512v2_b at 17:11 UT and HPW021VEL001x512v2 at 18:47 UT. The latter was run over the eclipse into the next daytime to give some extra data. The target was the sunspot of AR 13792. Sunday 25 Aug [OP1]The pry_flare_2 blocks were continued with entries at 02:43, 06:15, 07:38, 21:05 and 22:22 UT. HOP 206 was supported with HOP81_new_study at 09:13, 10:52 and 12:30 UT. HOP 420 was supported with HPW021VEL120x512v2_b at 17:44 UT and HPW021VEL001x512v2 at 19:20 UT. The target was the leading sunspot of AR 13796. Monday 26 Aug [OP1]The pry_flare_2 blocks were continued with entries at 00:00, 01:38 (extends over night), 08:11, 09:49, 11:28, 13:06 and 14:44 UT. HOP 420 was supported with HPW021VEL120x512v2_b at 18:16 UT and HPW021VEL001x512v2 at 19:52 UT. The target was the trailing sunspot of AR 13796. I scheduled Flare266_Hunter01 at 21:02 with Atlas_30 as the response. [UPDATE: this didn't trigger.] Tuesday 27 Aug [OP1]I scheduled Flare266_Hunter01 at 00:30 with Atlas_30 as the response. [UPDATE: this didn't trigger.] Atlas_60 was run above the limb near the equator at 07:06 UT (part of regular synoptic program). Tuesday 27 Aug [OP2]A typhoon resulted in modified passes for this OP. The coalignment program was supported at 11:58 and 13:36 UT with alignment_modify_v2. HOP 420 was run on AR 13799 (large sunspot) with HPW021VEL120x512v2_b at 18:48 UT and HPW021VEL001x512v2 at 20:27 UT. (These were swapped in the final plan after a request from the PI.) AR 13796 was the default target for the plan and FlareResponse04_sns was run 23:35 UT, with seven repeats. Wednesday 28 Aug [OP2]HOP 206 was supported with HOP81_new_study at 10:54, 12:33 and 14:13 UT. HOP 420 was run on AR 13801 with HPW021VEL120x512v2_b at 17:47 UT and HPW021VEL001x512v2 at 19:23 UT and 21:00 UT. (These were swapped in the final plan after a request from the PI.) Flare266_Hunter01 was run 22:30 for four hours with Atlas_30 as the response. The target was AR 13796. [UPDATE: this didn't trigger.] Thursday 29 Aug [OP3]The off-limb sensitivity monitoring study HPW023_FULLCCD_V2s2 was run at 13:10 UT. The limb region was fairly busy with AR loops, but should be OK. HOP 420 was run on the following sunspot of AR 13801 with HPW021VEL120x512v2_b at 18:19 UT and HPW021VEL001x512v2 at 19:57 UT. I added a Hinode roll monitoring study after the latter. Friday 30 Aug [OP3]AR 13796 reached the west limb and I scheduled FlareResponse04 at 12:00 and 13:38 UT with 9 repeats each. HOP 420 was run on AR 13803 with HPW021VEL120x512v2_b at 18:53 UT and HPW021VEL001x512v2 at 20:29 UT. The pointing was supposed to be on a spot, but none was visible at time of pointing. Saturday 31 Aug [OP3]HOP 393 was supported at 01:07 UT with Large_CH_Map. Page maintained by Dr Peter R Young. |
