In August 2016 I received a Peer
Award from the NASA Goddard Heliophysics Division.
My citation read: "Peter Young works selflessly to build the capabilities of researchers in the scientific community. He is dedicated to enabling scientists in the Heliophysics Science Division in their research, data analysis and programming efforts. Peter has organized the highly successful "SunDC" meetings, which bring together solar researchers at institutes throughout the DC area. He has given tutorials on various tools and software, such as the IDL plot objects and the SDO image cut-out service (with Shea Hess Webber). Those tutorials and other useful utilities are published on his website for the benefit of the scientific community. Because Peter's impact reaches so many people, and because his efforts are far beyond the call of his nominal responsibilities, he unreservedly is presented with a 2016 HSD peer award."
